Well, I was vindicated by an internal investigation at work where I was charged with being a racist! Woohoo! The person who leveled the accusation against me was told that after a indepth investigation they could not find ONE person who would back this person's claim up that I am a racist! As a matter of fact, they all said that I was far from being a racist and am one of the most tolerant, non-racial person they have ever met. The other employee was told that they needed to stop harrassing me and assulting MY character because their doing so is a chargable offense and that I could sue them in a court of law!
Whew, now that that is finished. This person is now being nice to me and trying to act like none of this ever happened. Well, I am still being respectful but never trusting of this person ever again. Hold your friends close and your enemies closer. At least the truth was brought to the light and now this person is the one who will be looked at whenever they speak or act. Sorry but paybacks are a bitch!
Now Sports Illustrated has done a new issue on the Vick's dogs. Hurray, finally someone who has made a wrong right. They have taken back what they published in earlier and finally seen the light on how wonderful the PitBulls can be when they are raised right by responsible, loving humans. Vindication is SWEET! You can bet that I am buying several issues and will have and keep one at work for EVERYONE to see!

Fallout from Michael Vick
It has been a long time since Michael Vick was caught and half prosecuted for fighting dogs and killing his Pit Bulls. I am just now blogging on the fallout I have personally experienced from this horrid event. I was so enraged when the story broke about his involvement in such a horrible act and never thought that people would not be as equally horrified. Little did I know. I was devestated when people did not understand the severity of the punishment Vick gave the dogs from his kennels, the lack of understanding and empathy of the torture dogs go through in these fights, the death, the destruction, the barbaric events of dogfights. I was immediately and vehementaly called a racist at work! My character, integrity and values were attacked viciously and unmerciously. People could not believe that Vick was losing everything just because he fought dogs, dogs that "fought because they wanted to". The lack of understanding was absurd. I was dumbfounded to hear "Everyone knows dog figthing goes on in the hood everyday, everyone knows that". I could not believe that people did not understand that just because it happens does not make it right. I have put up with a personal attack from a certain individual at work for my hatred of the act commited by Vick, his cousin(s), his friends that all participated in dog fighting. I could not believe that people actually believed that Vick did not know what was going on at this Virginia compound. To this very day when the subject comes up people still defend Vick and say that he should not have lost everything just because he fought some dogs. It crushes me to listen to these people and hear that they honestly, actually, believe what they are saying. Almost as bad as saying that they were just dogs and they were his so he had the right to do whatever he wanted is when they say that he was convicted just because he is black. Now forgive me if this offends anyone but I don't give a rats ass what color, gender, religion, sexual orientation someone is because fighting any animal is wrong! Please tell me what freedom an animal exercises when they are trained and put into a ring to fight to the death! There is freedom in that? About as much freedom as the dogs in Korea that are caged in cramped pens and skinned alive for food. How is the making a free choice? How is that a choice? I fail to see the logic in that thinking. If you take that stance have you ever watched a dog fight? Have you ever watched a dog killed because it failed to perform well in a fight? Have you ever seen the other animals that have their mouth taped shut so it won't fight back and thrown in to a space where it has no choice but to be attacked by a dog that is training to fight? Have you ever sat through something like this and not be replused? If you have and it did not bother you then you have no heart. How could you watch something like that and not be offended? How could you honestly say that it is okay because it is only a dog, a cat, a rabbit? How is any of that okay?
I realize that Mother Nature has its laws and animals do fight, animals do kill each other for food, animals die at the paws, teeth, and stealth of other animals, it is normal in the food chain but that is all together different than training an animal to fight to the death just to please it's master.
Why is it okay to turn a blind eye to this type of tradgey? Why is it okay to blame it on someones color, religion or whatever? It is not okay. Michael Vick had small children looking up to him as a hero. Is that the kind of hero you want your kid looking up to, someone that they want to emulate? Is there not enough hatred, violence and killing in the world already? Why is it okay to condone that kind of behavior? Kids are killing kids, strangers, parents, and we are telling them it is okay to kill animals. How is that okay?
Not to mention that he broke so many other laws like profiteering/gambling, tax evasion, cruelty to animals, to name a few. He defaulted on loans made to him while he was making lots of money on dog fighting and he did not pay taxes on the money he made off of the dogs. He tested positive for drugs while under contract with the NFL. Aren't these guys paid more than enough money to play sports without exibiting violent behavior by killing animals?
Just because I took a stand against Vicks behavior I have suffered for over a year of being called a racist and was denied the American right to have my own opinion. I was labeled a racist and made to endure a bias from fellow workers just because I was offended by Vick's actions. It escapes my reasoning as to why people are still outraged that he lost everything! We all know that if we break the law and get caught we will pay for our actions. Why should it be different for someone in the Public limelight? Why should it be any different just because he is a black man and had a tough childhood? Why does that make him any different than you or I or someone who is not in the public eye? Why? Why is it okay to discriminate against me because I think that he was wrong and should be punished? Why am I a racist because I am white and he is black? Why? Does that make it right for me to be discriminated against for over a year?
I may finally be getting my redemption for the slanderous accusations leveled against me because I believe that Vick was wrong for doing all that he did. It has finally been taken to the extreme of an internal investigation and it does not look good for the person who has been on my ass for over a year. Granted the Vick case is not the entire reason why a person chose to hate me beacuse quite frankly the real reasons are many. This person is a racist themselves but they are predijice against white people and it is now coming to the light. It has taken a long time but I may finally be vindicated. Nothing could please me more except that Vick getting a bit more time once he is tried in Virginia for the felony of abusing and killing dogs in an inhumane way.
I pray that the day will come when people really are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their heart because only then will people with hard hearts and murderous ways be called out.
It is about time that society begins to expect more out of all people and begin to hold hurtful, evil people accountable regardless of race, creed, gender and/or sexual orientation. Obama talked about change and was elected on that principle. I can only hope and pray that true changes come about for all people and that all evil people will be called out and held accountable!
